Opening an account

The account opening process is online and simple. For account setup, you'll need:

  • Australian mobile number.
  • Australian Business Number – business must be trading for minimum of one month.
  • Australian business bank account for direct debit setup and to set your limit.
  • One form of ID – either Australian driver licence or passport.
  • All directors to register.

What is a Trade Account and how does it work?

Shift Trade makes it easy for both suppliers and buyers to take advantage of the benefits of payment terms when transacting.

Suppliers use Shift Trade to offer payment terms to their customers.

  • You order through your supplier as normal.
  • Your supplier processes the transaction to your Trade Account.
  • Shift debits repayment from your bank account at a later date - according to the payment terms set by your supplier.
How much does it cost to use my Trade Account?

If your supplier is using Shift Trade to offer trade terms to you, there is no cost to repay on those terms.

There are no establishment or account keeping fees.

If you use your Trade Account to extend the repayment of an invoice beyond the trade terms, there is a transaction fee which is visible in platform.

Why do I need to connect my business bank account to Shift?

To process your application and provide you with a limit, we require you to connect your business bank account to your Shift account.

The credit limits we provide are based on your banking data. A bank connection is essential for suitable products and limits to be offered to you.

Is it safe to connect my bank account?

Yes. Your banking data is encrypted, handled in line with Australian privacy laws, and provided to Shift in a secure, read-only format.

This bank connection allows us to assess your credit, set appropriate limits, and create opportunities for future limit increases as your business grows.
